Lola Bikes and Coffee: Oasis for cyclist and coffee lovers
Rumors about the recent opening of a special bike-shop brought us on a beautiful sunday morning to The Hague. The first two hours we were almost the only ones (!) so we had the place for ourselves to check out, and had a wonderful time.
There is a lot to admire in Lola! Not only the special bikes as the Surley's, Cinelli's or Pashley's were asking our attention. It is the whole creative design, radical for a bike-shop, that got to us. Here fixie culture meets cycling nostalgia, and it felt like we'd found some water after the dessert of most other dutch bike-shops. With lot's of corners to hang lose with magazines and photo books we discovered a place we would definitely spend more sunday mornings if we lived in The Hague.
But that is just the bike-shop. Once we started to talk coffee Barista Marc got triggered, recognizing us as connoisseurs, and started to share his huge passion for coffee. After having the regular he offered us the monthly special from Jemen. "Jemen is not associated with good coffee, instead the opposite, but here we found a square meter were they make something you never had before". We hadn't. The taste was so full it felt like a complete lunch or like a Guinness on a too early moment. Something for a more acquired taste. Nevertheless we learned Marc as the real deal in coffee, sharing his passion with authentic products and a good story.
It made us wonder about Lola. Is this really a bike-shop, or a place for special coffee in disguise. Probably both when they are full in operation. But don't forget to chose this place for your regular coffee shots in The Hague. You get a passion for bikes at the same time.
