Col d'Izoard, Col de l'Echelle

Day 5 is a day for recovery but not without a legendary climb: the Col d'Izoard. Not only was the Izoard last year the col that Andy Schleck chose for his grand attack to win (and eventually loose) the Tour, but the Izoard was also the magical mountain where Bernard Thevenet ended the area of Eddy Mercks in 1975. Good to know, cause the first climbs it might rain of attacks!!!

After a good lunch in Briancon we the the valley with the col de l'Echelle will bring us to Italy. The col de L'Echelle has been climbed by Stok with Jean Christiaan (Leo) in the first version of the Alpentour in 2003 when everything went wrong (car trouble etc). From these mistakes we learned and 10 years later we got our fine concept.
