 Gran Fondo Fausto Coppi  (backward)
Stage 3: Marmora - Sampeyre  km 116/3300 vm
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Montemale di Cuneo - Faunièra (eastside), Sampeyre

Picture
In the index of Cyclingcols.com for the most heavy climbs in Europe the eastside of the Faunièra is number 13 and 3th overall of Italy (after the Northside of the Finestre (9th) and the Westside of the Zoncolan (7th). Number 14 is the Northside of the Galibier (including the Telegraph) but without the decent in the middle. The Fauniera will be a very touch ride.

The warmup for this roundtrip will be smooth, going down through the valley almost to Cuneo passing the Montemale di Cuneo. These are the mayor climbs  of the gran fondo 'La Fausto Coppi', we only do it in a different direction butting heavier climbs on our program. The closing Sampeyre we approach from the south-west side through the vally of Elva.
